The Town of Barrington is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Civil Engineer in the Department of Public Works. Under the direct supervision of the Director and Superintendent, the Civil Engineer will supervise and coordinate activities and operation of the Barrington Department of Public Works. Duties include, but are not limited to the managing of the Town’s Stormwater and Sanitary Sewer systems, roadway reconstruction/traffic safety improvements, GIS mapping system and overall operation of a Department of Public Works. This position will be responsible for filing and submitting all Phase II stormwater reports to RIDEM and annual Sanitary Sewer reports to USEPA. This position will be responsible for putting together all roadway resurfacing/reconstruction contracts and field supervision/management of all Town building, sewer, drainage and roadway construction projects. The DPW Civil Engineer will also assist when needed the supervision/management of DPW union staff with the daily operations including snow removal, preparation of the Town’s athletic fields/parks, building maintenance, trash/recycling collection, etc.
